The opportunity

Michelin has an immediate opening for an Environmental Site Specialist who provides support and direction to meet the site’s safety, health, and environment objectives. This position works normal business hours Monday-Friday but supports a team that works 24 hours - 7 days a week. This role is critical to provide the environment that keeps our employees and communities safe and protected. What will you do:

  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and standards.
  • Develop and implement robust environmental policies and programs.
  • Monitor and manage waste disposal, pollution control, and resource conservation efforts.
  • Collaborate with regulatory agencies, collaborators, customers, and the community on environmental matters.
  • Provide training and support to staff on standard methodologies for environmental management.
  • Stay current with new regulations and industry trends related to environmental protection.

Additional for Senior:

  • Interpret and advise on the impact of emerging issues, regulations, and legislation to facility operations.
  • Evaluate and provide selection advice on existing or emergent risk management control technologies.
  • Work with management to facilitate risk management decisions.
  • Analyze emerging technology for the identification of potential hazards and control methods.
  • Participate in the update and analysis of all Environmental related metrics within the organization.

What you will bring:

  • Must be open to working in an industrial plant setting (Monday-Friday, day shift) and be available for emergency response and occasional night/weekend work.
  • 1-5 years demonstrated environmental and safety knowledge within a manufacturing setting is preferred.
  • Strong analytical, presentation, and planning/organization skills.
  • Self-motivated; Ability to work effectively and efficiently under pressure while leading competing demands and tight deadlines.
  • Works cooperatively with others to solve problems and willingly helps others when assistance is needed.
  • Ability to influence and communicate effectively with all levels of an organization.

Additional for Senior:

  • 3+ years or more working as an EHS Site Specialist/Engineer or EHS Specialist.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Certified Safety Professional® (CSP®)/Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certifications, or Collective Protective Equipment (CPE) is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 EHS management systems.
  • Strong comprehension and expertise in interpreting, applying, and detailing federal, state, and local safety and health regulations and industry standard processes.
