Taking responsibility together

Sustainability, social commitment, diversity and wellbeing – find out how we take responsibility at Michelin.

Corporate Social Responsibility at Michelin

At Michelin, we are about more than just tyres. As a responsible company, we want to play a positive role in shaping the social, economic and environmental dynamics in the regions where we operate. This is a matter close to our hearts, which is why we support initiatives that have a long-term impact.

We want to create added value for the community, local people and our employees.

What is important to us

Through our social commitment, we at the Michelin Group pursue common goals worldwide. In doing so, we focus on issues that create sustainable added value:

  • Jobs of the future – We promote education, STEM subjects, and craft and technical skills.

  • Equality of opportunity & diversity – We are committed to diversity, inclusion and equal opportunities for all.

  • Health & wellbeing – We support initiatives promoting physical activity, prevention and a healthy lifestyle.

  • Taking responsibility together – We strengthen collaboration, social engagement and cohesion within our communities.

  • Regional initiatives – We support projects that sustainably enrich life in the areas surrounding our sites.

In this way, we aim to strengthen communities and foster solidarity, whilst also giving our employees the opportunity to develop both personally and professionally.

Global initiatives

Our global goals are brought to life through concrete initiatives and measurable targets. The following examples highlight three areas in which the Michelin Group has set clear global targets for 2030 and 2050 – ranging from social engagement and climate action to the circular economy.

  • Social Engagement & Volunteering

We want volunteering to be an integral part of our corporate culture at every single site worldwide. That is why we launched the ‘We Volunteer’ initiative, a global volunteering programme. The idea behind it is to promote social and community engagement at Michelin.

That is why we create opportunities for our employees to get involved in projects and to contribute their strengths where they are needed. In this way, we make a positive long-term contribution to our communities.

  • Curbing global warming

The Michelin Group is working to significantly reduce the impact of climate change and achieve carbon-neutral production by 2050.

To this end, we are setting science-based targets in line with the Paris Agreement and investing in innovations that reduce emissions throughout our value chain.

Our approach: acting today to secure a liveable future tomorrow – together with partners, customers and the entire industry.

  • Conserving resources and closing the loop

The responsible use of resources is a key component of our sustainability strategy. Our aim is to develop products in such a way that materials can be used time and time again – through prevention, reduction, reuse and recycling.

By 2050, our tyres are set to be made entirely from renewable and recycled materials. In doing so, we are driving forward innovations that will enable the transition to a genuine circular economy.

How we put our commitment into practice locally

Our global goals form the basis of our commitment – but they are put into practice where we are based.

As part of our global goals for social engagement, we support local projects at our sites that are tailored to the needs of the local community.

That is why we actively encourage our staff to get involved and regularly organise suitable events and initiatives.

Finance & Michelin Development Teams Support Conservation Efforts at Bosley Cloud

On 25 March 2026, colleagues from the Finance and Michelin Development teams spent the day volunteering with the National Trust at the stunning Bosley Cloud site in Cheshire. The visit formed part of Michelin’s ongoing commitment to environmental and community engagement.

The National Trust team had recently completed essential woodland work, including the felling of selected trees to promote healthier forest growth. Our volunteers stepped in to help move and clear the felled timber, ensuring the area remained safe, accessible, and ready for the next phase of habitat restoration.

A highlight of the day was installing a series of handcrafted bird boxes, made by pupils from a nearby school. These boxes will provide safe nesting spaces for a variety of native species, supporting biodiversity across the Bosley Cloud area.

Making a Difference Where We Work and Live

On 18th March some of our employees stepped outside their daily routines and into an initiative that reflects who we are at our core: a company committed to caring for the places we call home.

Across our site, a small team volunteered their time to take part in a litter‑picking effort — a simple act with a powerful impact.

Making a difference through our diversity

At Michelin, we see diversity, equity and inclusion as an integral part of our corporate culture. Through initiatives, networks and programmes, we promote equal opportunities and create an environment in which people from different backgrounds feel welcome.

One example of this is our in-house cookbook, “Et Voilà! The Taste of Michelin EUN”, featuring over 65 favourite recipes and personal stories from employees across Northern Europe.

The proceeds from the project were donated to local charitable organisations – including Tafel Deutschland e.V., Save the Children Sweden and the Alice Charity in the UK.
